How to Choose a Home Based Business 5 keys to making the right decision
First of all many of us are caught in our “dead in jobs” or our J.O.B.-Just Over Broke. We punch the clock and collect a paycheck day after day. One day something happens and you wake up and realize you are tired of working for others and building someone else dream. You realize it is time to make a change and take over your own future. When choosing a home based business you need to find something that gets you motivated! Something you can be excited about doing. In my quest to find Financial and Time freedom I went through many different business models before I found one that I liked, enjoyed, and was passionate about. I was a Vice President in Corporate America, owner of a traditional business, owner of a franchise and even got involved in Network Marketing or MLM.
1. Has to be Fun
If you find something that is fun or that you enjoy work does not seem like work! If you look at all the great people in their fields a common denominator among most of them is that they enjoy the work that they do. Working for yourself requires YOU to motivate yourself, no one will be cracking the wipe telling you what to do. At first this seem easy however, staying motivated everyday requires you to work on yourself everyday for about an hour.
2. Something you can get passionate about
Not only is it important that you have fun you also need to be passionate about what you are doing. If you are it can provide that extra drive and help fill the need many of us have to contribute to a cause bigger then just ourselves.
3. Can I make money doing it?
It is one thing to enjoy what you are doing and to be passionate about it, but you have to be able to make money doing it. Having a great plan of action and having achievable attainable financial goals is very important. I have seen so many people get in a business from a single business presentation and make an emotional hyped up decision only to find out down the road that the business model is not getting them where they want to be financially. Don't join any business until you have spoken to someone personally who is achieving the level of success you want and going over with them your plans to make sure you can reach your target in a time frame that is realistic for you.
4. Is it Residual?
This is one that took me years to learn and now I do not take on any new stream of income unless it is residual. Residual Income is working once and getting paid over and over again. Let me give you an example I build up a Network Marketing (MLM) business to over six figures, it took me a few years, after sometime I decided to focus on another business that I had become just as passionate about. My MLM stream of business continued to pay me six figures for several years. This is the key to stop trading time for money and allows you the time freedom to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Robert Allen, New York Times Best Selling Author and one of my personal mentors told me he calls it” Mail Box Money”.
5. Can I learn how to do it?
Robert Kiyosaki says it this way "Choosing a Sponsor is the single most important decision you will ever make in having success in you business." I have learned this one the hard way. Now I look at the team, the training and the support before making a decision and consider that to be as important as choosing the vehicle and company.
When looking at all these models I recommend Direct Selling just like Robert Allen, Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump. There is not a better industry for the average person to achieve all the above if they pick the right company to become part of.
